You can list off the benefits, features, advantages, and innovations of a grow light, but there will always be skeptics. Now, show them a photo or do a live demonstration, and then you’re in business. So, when this photo came in of our new DUO Clone Bar LED Grow Light next to a T8 grow light, we had to share it.
While the DUO Clone Bar LED Grow Light and T5, T8, and T12 fluorescent grow lights vary a great deal, there are some clear benefits to using LED. T5 grow lights typically last for about 10,000 hours, 30,000 for T8’s and 20,000 hours for T12’s. The DUO clone bar has a life span of 50,000 hours.
T5 and T8’s put off more heat than LEDs and require additional cooling and ventilation equipment to keep plants from cooking. At 24W the DUO only puts off 130 BTUs, just try to measure that.
T5, T8, and T12 fluorescent grow lights are more dangerous by nature. In order to produce light, these grow lights contain neon, mercury vapor, xenon, argon, and krypton, while LEDs do not.
